 Words from President

Taiwanese indigenous peoples have 16 ethnic groups with the population of more than 572,000. This population signifies the great ethnic diversity and cultural heterogeneity in Taiwan.

National Chiayi University (NCYU) is located at the center of Taiwan Island. There are some long-lasting problems remained in the indigenous peoples areas, such as young manpower outflow, the hardship of the indigenous peoples' lives, and the great developing gap between the urban and mountainous areas. We believe we should help to improve the economic welfare of the indigenous peoples  by collaborating with the government, other universities, and the tribal units. Based on the concern of the indigenous peoples Taiwan, NCYU established Taiwanese Indigenous Peoples Education and Enterprise Development Center in 2001.
