Stacy Wei was born on March 27th, 1978 in Keelung, Taiwan. He started playing the trumpet at age thirteen in junior high school band class, where he was taught by Mr. Chong-Shi Chou. He has graduated from the City University of New York at Queens College with a master degree in jazz performance. His music instructors include Prof. Michael Philip Mossman and Prof. Antonio Hart of Queens College CUNY, as well as Dr. John Van Deurson, noted trombonist player and former assistant conductor at Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra. Wei currently is the director of National Theater Concert Hall summer jazz camp and outdoor jazz program、Jazz Instructor of music department at National Cha Yi University and Tunghai University、Yamaha artist 2010/2011.
Since college, Mr. Wei had performed to critical acclaim with numerous music groups, encompassing a wide range of styles ranging from classical to jazz and even contemporary pop. Over the year he has worked with Taipei Philharmonic Jazz Big Band, Sirens Concert Band, Taipei Jazz Ensemble, Tao Yuan Symphonic Band, Cool-Phone Concert Band, Rocco Band, and the Brown Sugar Impressions Big Band, etc.
After finishing his military service with the Ministry of National Defense Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Wei has devoted his time to musical education as well as musical performance. He has worked as an instructor and conductor for several schools music program both in the classical and jazz arena, and has lead his students to positive reviews in numerous musical competitions.
