News--Welcome to National Chiayi University

　　The president of Chukyo University, Hitoshi Yasumura, led a visiting delegation to National Chiayi University on the afternoon of December 14th, 2015. NCYU’s Academic Vice President Chyung Ay and President Hitoshi Yasumura of Chukyo University co-signed an Agreement for Academic Exchange between two universities under the witness of Chuan-show Chen, the former president of National Taiwan University of Sport. The two universities agree to focus on the cooperation of exchange student program, faculty and staff exchange and academic research and development.

　　According to NCYU’s Office of International Affairs, on August 21, 1931, Kano baseball team was beaten by the Chukyo Commercial baseball team from Aichi Prefecture by 0 to 4 in the summer Koshien final tournament, coming off second best as a result. The Chukyo Commercial went on to become affiliated high school of Chukyo University in 1995. With that connection and recommendation by Chiayi City government, the cooperation between two universities was first discussed in this early September with Kiyohide　Umemura, chairman of Umemura Educational Institutions of Chukyo University, which led to the eventual signing of the Agreement.

　　President Hitoshi Yasumura said that since Japan is not far from Taiwan and the two universities share a common history in baseball in the Koshien summer tournament, he hopes the two universities can have continued and substantive exchanges in baseball and other sports besides the agreed cooperation.

　　Chukyo University was established in 1954 and has comprehensive teaching and research institutions, including School of International Liberal Studies, School of Letters, School of World Englishes, School of Psychology, School of Law, School of Business and Public Policies, School of Economics, School of Contemporary Sociology, School of Engineering and School of Health and Sport Sciences and Graduate Schools including Graduate School of Letters, Graduate School of Psychology, Graduate School of Law and Graduate School of Economics.
