NCYU Campus Recruitment Exposition on May 12 NCYU Campus Recruitment Exposition on May 12

NCYU Campus Recruitment Exposition, titled “Let Your Dreams Take Flight”, kicked off at Chiaho Gymnasium on the Lantan Campus on May 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There are 60 firms participating in the campus recruitment exposition and a total of around 1,000 job vacancies will be open for application. Firms that joined the exposition came from such sectors as information technology, agriculture, biology, culture and education, finance and life insurance, service, military and so forth. Recent graduates of colleges and universities and all job seekers from Yunlin and Chiayi participated in the event to hunt for ideal jobs.

The event kicked off in the morning with NCYU President Lee Ming-Jen and Chen Shu-Gong, dean of the Food Industry Research and Development Institute (FIRDI), signing a memorandum on cooperation between National Chiayi University and Food Industry Research and Development Institute, and was attended by Chiayi City Deputy Mayor Lee Shek-June. FIRDI was entrusted by the Chiayi Industrial R & D Center, Ministry of Economic Affairs, which is located on Bo Ai Road, to promote industry/university cooperation with NCYU on developing health food and hygiene food production. Their cooperation aims to provide more learning and job opportunities for NCYU students and enhance exchanges among industries, government and academic research organizations.

The Campus Recruitment Exposition offered opportunities for recent graduates to seek employment. It featured one-to-one and tailored resume and career counseling services by Lin Li-Xue, editor-in-chief of the Financial Division, Yuan-Liou Publishing Co.,Ltd., and Zhou Meng-Zhu, former recruitment consultant of a well-known bank. In addition, online psychological testing services were also available for students to know more about their interest, aptitude and potential.

Zhou, who has been recruiting for several companies, said that it took only an average of forty seconds for employers to make recruitment decisions based on resumes. Therefore she suggested students include their employment experiences in their resumes to capture the employers’ attention.

Luo Xin-Wei, a senior student of the Department of Education, mentioned that she learned from the resume and career counseling that there were tips to write a good resume. Cai Meng-Han, a student of the Department of Civil and Water Resources Engineering, said that he found the exposition extremely helpful since he had not decided his career path after graduation and the aptitude analysis services offered by the companies helped him understand more about himself.

According to the Internship and Placement, Office of Student Affairs of NCYU, this year’s exposition featured an unprecedented zone displaying teaching and R&D results of different departments and information on continuing education programs. Thus job-hunting recent graduates and incumbent workers can obtain useful information in future planning.

This year, the College of Life Sciences of NCYU set up a talent database for their seventy recent graduates with a master’s degree. The database includes resumes detailing aptitudes of each student, which will be provided to companies for reference in book form. This is a breakthrough in recruitment process in which students usually take the initiative to seek jobs, enabling the employers to gain deeper understanding of the students’ aptitudes and enhance recruitment efficiency.

The Recruitment Center of National Armed Forces attracted inquiries from many recent graduates as usual. Chimei Innolux Corp., which offers PM Assistant Engineer job opportunities, also drew inquiries from a large number of science and technology students who submitted their resumes to the company for interview opportunities. The other booths were also filled with students filling in forms, hoping to find a job before graduation.

At the venue, all the participating recent graduates and other people could get brochures and souvenirs from booth staffs.
