The center has been working on agriculture promotion since 1981, the year when public agriculture colleges set promotion centers.  We soon made our work goals certain to target at the ultimate goal—solving farmers’ problems with agricultural technological techniques.  Our work goals are: practicing training program in the countryside, teaching new techniques, publishing materials, and providing technical counseling service.  Presently, our promotion professors are collaborating with Tainan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station and other relevant research institutes, and have even established a positive long-term, teamwork relationship with colleagues in administration units.  Our efforts have so far received wide compliments.  But after the government entered GATT and WTO, the new times demand new perspectives and methods to conquer new challenges and to accomplish the ultimate, cross-century goal.

     1. Integrate human resource in other departments, research and development sections,Agricultural  Promotion Center, and Gardening Technique Center, and organize them into human resource and technical counseling information center.  We will not only be satisfied with providing counseling service and assisting regional agricultural improvement or research units, but also actively involve ourselves in counseling farmers on educational agriculture promotion strategies with marketing strategies and management knowledge, hoping to help farmers seek new knowledge and solve problems.

      2. Consolidate the depth and width of agriculture promotion.  Besides vertically connecting marketing systems such as farmers’ associations, we would not neglect horizontal interactions, which will be initiated by promotion professors.  Such horizontal integration will make the agricultural industry more competitive.  There are successful examples we can model after, such as Goat Milk Chianan, and companies in Japan or North European countries.

     3. The development of Agriculture Promotion Center will be oriented by farmers’ need.

4.The innovation and propagation of agricultural technique-based assistance has grown short of tackling the new trend of agricultural development, due to the changing form of consumption and the expansion of agriculture function.  In accommodation of the two-days-off-per-week policy, it is necessary to consolidate the development of local culture in countryside by combining leisure agriculture.  For instance, produce exhibits can be held in countryside to advertise local cultures and develop countryside industry.

5.Outlook: the promotion professors will bridge between theory and practice, recommending the research results to farmers in order to make them more competitive, turn crisis into chance, and bring welfare, since agriculture management is facing the problems of aging population and labor shortage in the marketing system in our region.
