Chunghui Hsuan is professor in Department of Early Childhood Education. Dr. Hsuan is a licensed special education teacher in Taiwan. After she obtained her E.dD in special education at National Taiwan Normal University in 2005, she served as faculty in the Department of Early Childhood Education at Asia University for 7 years. She subsequently joined National Chiayi University in 2013, where she was promoted to a professor in 2017.

Dr. Hsuan’s researches focus on young children’s reading development and dyslexia, especially in Mandarin-speaking children. Her research has been continuously funded for 11years by the Ministry of Science and Technology in Taiwan for 1) longitudinal studies on Chinese reading development and reading difficulties of children aged from 3 to 8; and 2) practical studies on early detection of and diagnosis of pre-readers who run a high risk of difficulty in learning to read Chinese.

Dr.Hsuan promotes the quality of education for preschoolers with special needs in inclusive context. She contributes in teacher education by enriching their skills in executing special education and classroom management in inclusive context.
