Vaccine Technology

Most vaccines prevent infections (prophylaxis); most drugs treat infections (therapy). Since prevention is always better than cure, and because really effective antiviral therapy has been difficult to achieve, there is great importance attached to producing safe and effective vaccines against viruses. To give our students a comprehensive understanding of the basic concepts of vaccine development. This course will introduce the basic knowledge about traditional vaccines, recombinant vaccines, DNA vaccines, peptide vaccines and cancer vaccines etc.
