Piano Literature I
“Piano Literature I” for graduate piano major students is not only designed as a comprehensive survey of piano literature. Rather, the course is more akin to a seminar on a limited topic. This term the course will focus on the leading keyboard composers of the 18th century: J. S. Bach, Haydn, and Mozart. We also will touch on the contributions of other important figures, including Couperin, Rameau, Handel, D. Scarlatti, C. P. E. Bach, and some early piano works of Beethoven. Students are urged to build their libraries of solo keyboard literature of Bach, Haydn, and Mozart. |
